Default NDS still performing well

NDS has reported another strong quarter.

The News Corp-owned technology company said that revenues for the first quarter had risen by 14% to $164 million (€128m) while operating income grew by 25% to $45 million.

In total NDS has 66.6 million active digital TV smart cards, 44.7 million cumulative set-top boxes activated with NDS middleware and 4.2 million cumulative personal video recorder deployments.

Revenues from conditional access increased by 12% when compared top 2005.

This resulted from the combination of higher smart card sales and higher security fees. Revenues from integration, development and support grew by 33% from the corresponding period to $18.4 million as NDS benefited from revenues derived from the launch of the Tata-Sky satellite platform in India.
