In general terms, which is better, Plasma or LCD?

Now with the new tech in LCDS on the newer ones i would look more @ them than Plasmas. The newer LCDS look like there @ least match Plasmas. My Samsung LE46F86 will arrive anytime after monday,i guess midweek.Iv seen some reports on Samsung LE46F86 where bought on the cheep have not all been great. If anyone was to by one,get from someone who been about for many years.Iv got mine from robertwhyteltd & not heard one bad report on this LCD from them. The only down side with robertwhyteltd, you might have to wait a bit longer for your order.soon you can see a review on this LCD here.

I prefer plasma over LCD on large screen sizes. Large LCD tv`s tend have screen drag.

But my 42" Plasma runs at 490W, Its like having a halogen light on all the time! I did notice the increase with my lecy bill >

The kids now have my old Thompson 32" Crt wide screen tv in there bedroom, and It has a better picture than the plasma.

It does help using good scart cables.

Hi m8,no one wants drag on there screen, thats why i said the newer Lcds like the Samsung LE46F86.From what i can make out here, looks like might be a thing of the past .Full Hd resolution 1920 x 1080,dynamic contrast ratio 25,000:1,the picture quality promises to be spectacular,3 HDMI ports & USB 2 s-video,scart,PC(D-SUB)PIP.Seems to me there is a lot in this Samsung LE46F86

Crossbones, plasmas dont run at a constant power level unlike lcd. The power consumption depends upon the picture.

I'm still going for projectors

I picked up a bargain '1080p' projector the other day, £50

Too bad it weighs the same as a baby elephant, due to the 3 CRT tubes in side it.

Picture quality is second to none though

Default Side by side Plasma looks better to me

Been looking at 42" tv for a few months and just by looking at screens I consistently pick out plasma as the better of the 2.

The Panasonic in particular stand out as the best picture to me by quite a margin.
