I think this Plasma 'burn in' problem has been a tad overstated. If a Plasma, LCD or CRT showed the same channel, with the logo in the same place, for hours and hours every day, then they would all suffer from burn in i.e. The logo would remain on screen whatever you were watching.

Unless you're going to be watching the same channel for 10 hours a day, 365 days a year, I wouldn't worry about it

I sell TV's every day of the week and I know for a fact that the likes of the panasonic viera which is a plasma with a resolution of 1920x1080p a stupidly high contrast ration and a 100MHz screem refresh rate is of superior picture quality over any LCD thats out at the moment easilly.

Above 40 inches plasma is better, LCD cannot handle quick movements at this size, large CRT,s are out because of their physical size, I had to dispose of a 37inch CRT at the weekend and nearly put my back out

Plasma everytime, preferable a top end plasma such as panasonic or poineer, but even budget plasma like lg still handle motion and give deeper black levels resulting in greater detail and depth of picture than lcd's.

Plasma for me and Pioneer to be specific, but now I'm just a bit disappointed that Pioneer have now dropped plasma on screen sizes below 50". They now have 32" to 46" in lcd. I will reserve judgment until I have seen them though.

Talking Re: In general terms, which is better, Plasma or LCD?

I've looked at the pioneer 32v and 37v and I must say for lcd screens they are impressive, and considering it's rare to get a plasma that small,I think we can let pioneer off.

I wouldn't even entertainer an lcd at 46" no matter who makes it.

The thing thats a bit off putting is the price, but if you can afford to pay for a 37" pioneer lcd which was over £1000 when I last checked, then you can easily afford a 42" panasonic plasma! I found one for what I thought was a bargain, think the place was Direct something,erm.. a ha yes Digital Direct! (hate it when your mind goes, sign of age or too many late nights out lol) Buy plasma and shop on line for a good price.

It's the way forward .
