Default Which technomate 1500 to get from Santa?

Just been browsing fleabay and have noticed there are different TM1500s. There is the TM1500 CI+ and the 1500 CI+ Super. Whats the difference between the two? In some places there is 20 quid difference but as money is tight at this time of year having teenage kids who want mobiles and mp3 players etc etc I want to get the cheapest. Seen the Super at 99 + P&P and the other one at 85 plus p+p or could someone recommend somewhere else. As I have no credit or debit card though they must take postal orders or be able to pay cash into a bank account.

Cheers for the help

Hi Jonty,

I may be wrong but as far as I know they are identical apart from the Super having a much faster blind search.

I think their is another one called TMS 1500 which has a more sensitive tuner but slower blind search as well, just to confuse you a bit more

Cheers,
Kev.

Blimey, either the clock on the forum's broken, or you guys are serious early-birds!

Kev's spot on with his analysis as far as I know.

If money's tight, maybe you should look at the TM-1000D Super? It takes the same patches and is virtually identical to the 1500, except no card or CAM slots.

Who cares if you're going to patch it anyway? You can even add a card reader later.

The 1000 goes for £60 + postage. There are also some running as regular auctions.

I have the TM1500 CI+ which i think is a fantastic box The only downfall is that its blind search is painfully slow.

Mine took over 9hrs to do a full blind search of 16e
It was an overnight job that still wasn't done when i got up the next morning. >

Although on its plus points i find the tuner to be excellent and quite sensitive (Definately compared to my FortecStar) I'm getting high eighties/low nineties signal quality off Hottie and Astra 1.

You could go for the cheaper TM1000 CI which will at least give you the option of putting a cam in it if you need to.

The 1000 CI was the receiver that i wanted but i was made an offer i couldn't refuse and went for the TM1500CI+ instead.

cheers nano. Just had a look on fleabay and there is a wide choice of 1000s too. CI, CI Super and D and TMS. Prices range from 49 to 75. The mrs likes the idea of the cheaper one believe it or not

Ok made a snap decision and I am gonna go for the basic one without the ci slots as I don't think I will ever use one as it would mean more expense. Am I right in thinking with the patches it will open up just as much as the 1500?

I think that's a good choice. If you want something else or more later, your TM-1000 should sell second-hand for nearly what you paid for it new.
