Hi,
First post after much skulking as a guest. Got a standard/simple Sky/ftv setup. Like a few here I am by the sea. Everyones' 'Collander' sky dish is a funny rust colour - frankly they are a eyesore. Thought about the ali Gilberti dish but they can throw off their finish? - all bubbly then lots of unsightly salts on the exposed aluminum. The only alternative that makes sense to me is the Channelmaster [over 90cm] - seems to be weatherproof but very expensive. Any thoughts/alternatives? We had the sky fitted but I am happy to fit myself as the dish can be only 10 feet off the ground to get the sat [and probably a few more if I get sucked into this odd pastime of yours] ![]() Jeff ![]() |

Hi Jeff :welc2:
Odd pastime?!? Sounds about right :roflmao: What about the new Triax glass-fibre dishes? Apparently they're pretty good performers and not a bad price. Satellite Superstore have them I think. Or maybe one of the clear plastic Metronic dishes? Now they are very unobtrusive and recommended for 'visually sensitive' applications shall we say. In either 60cm or 85cm, they perform much like a steel or ally dish, though are a bit more expensive. Only about £80 for the large one, so not a silly price. Hope this helps, and I'm glad you could join us ![]() STICK

You could try taking your dish down and have it powder coated.
![]() If its done properly your dish should last at least 5-6 years before any signs of rust start coming through even on the coast. ![]() My 90cm Televes Prime focus dish looked fantastic after it came back from the powder coaters. After a quick coating of car wax it looks as good now as it did when it was first put up. ![]() ![]() Nano

Thanks for the welcome Stick ![]() Nano - to achieve this fine state of affairs didn't you have to throw your bits over a fence in the middle of the night? ![]() |
