I've now got a couple of 10mm 'U' bolts from work So now it's just a case of finding the right time to fit them. I've called them 'U' bolts but I've pinched them off a couple of beam clamps so they're actually square. I'll get you a couple Stick but you'll have to pop up to Workington to pick them up!

I tried them on a scaffold tube at work and they're a pretty tight fit. The problem their is that the original fittings are set up to take up to a 3" pole so a bit of 'manipulation' will be required I thinks :.

As for the wind, well the dish has moved again >
But I've re-aligned some Sat's via the receiver and they seem to be OK.

I couldn't mark the pole/motor bracket last time as I only had a black marker pen and the pole is black :
So I'm still not 100% sure what exactly is moving.

Next purchase: White marker pen

On the positive side of things their has been hardly any pixalating, despite strong winds and heavy rain since tea time, so that tells me that I've got the dish set up much better than last time

Exhaust clamps from a cars parts store may be a heavy duty answer for cruddy U-bolts

That's what I used to fix my minidish up with. I had to buy a pretty large clamp, straighten it out, and then re-bend it with the correct pitch to get the extra length required to mount it on a 2" pole.

The Moteck bolts have a really wide, square profile so you're looking for an extremely large exhaust retailer! :spite:

Exhaust clamps is what i have for my wave t90 dish to hole the pole.of the 3 holding points for the pole, only the top clamp had to be wider that holds the dish.i had a ally pole @ 2 inch with steel welded @ the top, this had 2 be bigger for the poler mount.my dish holds rock soild in these winds.

This is what I'm determined to achieve sid, a set up that won't move unless the wall falls down :spite:

The wind we have been having here the last couple of days has knocked both my dishes out > Bugger all signal from all four lnbs :'(

I've had to bring the Televes Parabol 90 and Sky Minidish out of retirement. The 90cm dish is still floor mounted so it only took me a few mins to chuck it at 19.2e in the hope of D+ opening again. I've also connected up the minidish pointing at 28.2e again to open up a few channels i dont get on televest.

Hopefully the wind wont be to bad this weekend so i can get them both off the house wall before i set them up in their new homes on the garden retaining wall allowing for easy adjustment. I've got two 1m lengths of 2" Galvanised tube to put them on. All i've got to do now is figure out how to mount them using the original mounts as a base. :?

Looks like the old arc welder might be coming out to play again :|

I'm just hoping that the wall that they will be mounted on doesn't come down. If it does i'll be seeing a lot more of my neighbours garden and probably his shed. :roflmao:

Well I don't hold much hope of my dish holding out in the winds that are forecast for the next 48hrs. I've been back up this morning and I think I've found what the problem is.

I moved the dish to 1w, which is the sat I originally set it up on and which I have since left alone in the same position (thought it would be easier this way when it came to re-aligning). So now the gauge on the back of the motor should be pointing to 0, which is how it was set up, right?

Well, no! Not with this motor anyway. It now points to about 20 degree's east . Which can only really mean that the problem lies with the motor gearbox >. And that's something I can't easily do anything about :?.

If this turns out to be the case I have 3 options as I see it:

1) Try a smaller dish. But I don't want to do this as their is no guarantee that the gearbox will hold this either.
2) Lower to a more sheltered location. Don't fancy this as I'll probably lose some of the western birds.
3) Purchase a new, stronger motor. Hmmm, more expense But the most likely option for me to take, given that it's the only one that won't mean compromising the amount/strength of channels I receive.

For now I've got 28E to 30W, I couldn't set it up properly due to the wind making things a bit scary. Plus it'll only move again with the winds tonight >

Not to worry though, I've still got all this soccer to watch this afternoon . And our lass has gone to Glasgow shopping for the day so I've got the house to myself Happy day's

Cheers,
Kev.
