Well, I'm victim of the wind now. After four weeks of torrential rain I've lost 13E and 19E. Not the weather to go up on the roof as it's still raining here in Paisley and roads are flooded all over the place. Strangely, it's the mesh dish which moved and my smaller but solid dish is still pointing at 28E. Let nobody ban ME from using a hosepipe next year!!

LOL, yes, but next summer, they'll say it was the wrong type of rain...

Bummer about your dish. I guess we'll all be out with the spanners over the holidays. The weather has been quite extreme though.

Earth Station Galashiels has survived the latest storms intact - my secret - the bungee cord on the 19E dish

No problems here apart from a wee bit of movement from the motor on Saturday night/Sunday morning

Lowering things that extra 2-3 metres may well have done the trick 8)

Has lowering the dish restricted what you can see of the arc Kev?

The simple answer to that is I'm not sure

I ran out of patience last Saturday when setting things back up so I've settled for 28E to 22W for now. I was going to finish it off today but rain stopped play >

I'll post back as soon as I know Stick

Cheers,
Kev.

Back in business again in Paisley. I decided at 11.30 last night that, as the rain had gone off for the first time in a month, I would give my dish a tweak with a brush. I thought the dish had moved eastwards but in fact it had moved westwards and a quick bang moved it enough (about 4 degrees) to secure 76% signal on Hotbird - also receiving 19E loud and clear again. My visual clue was that both dishes "appear" to be pointing in the same direction when all is well, but the two LNBs on the bigger dish are to the left of centre (looking at it from the front of the dish) so the dish is pointing further to the east than you would think. (Photo attached, taken in better weather) . I'll fine tune it all at the weekend. Hope all you guys out there have not suffered too much.

I can get from 53E to 45W - that's the last western satellite in the TM's menu and I don't know how to add any more :

So them gales the other week actually did me a favour Because without them I wouldn't have moved the dish and it's so much more easier to work on in it's new location

Cheers,
Kev.

That's great Kev - nice job

These winds have been pretty bad. Hopefully you can give the ladders a rest for a while now

Cheers,
Kev.
