I don't think it's game-over for TPS viewing by a long way yet. I also believe that the French government has stated that the two hardware decoding systems must continue, and the above text hints that TPS have rejected going down the hybrid route with Canal+ in favour of tweaking TPSCrypt again (which appears to be what they've implemented).

TPS always make showy press releases when they do this, and it usually results in an embarrassed shuffling of feet and staring at the floor a few days later. This may take much longer to circumvent, but I don't see it as dead and buried yet.
