Default Decent Graphic's cards?

Anybody recommend a decent, value for money graphics card?

I've just been fitting a DVD RAM burner and noticed that the fan, motor and all, has 'fell off' my Ge Force 6610 XL card

It may have been off for a while but I don't really fancy leaving it for too long in it's current state

Cheers,
Kev.

I find graphics cards really hard to choose between, because I (like most other people, if they're honest) don't understand what the hell all that techno-babble in the specifications actually means in the real world.

I select my cards by reading reviews, and I find one of the most straightforward sites is Tom's Hardware, so why not have a read?

I also find that it's usually a smart move to buy the near-top-end cards which are being sold-off cheaply to make way for the new models, rather than the mid-range cards from the latest crop.

If the cooling was a problem on it I guarantee it would have been noticed by now. Most computers will happily run too hot / insufficient cooling for an indefinite time. Whilst I was stripping out our old school computer system over the summer I found one computer with a seized power supply fan - the computer was still happily running, even though the psu was so hot it took the skin off the end of my fingers!

Oh I forgot to add that I've set it up so that I'll get a warning if the temperature goes above the core slowdown threshold Just gives me a little peace of mind 8)

Cheers,
Kev.

You can also get a cheap exhaust blower to fit in the PCI slot next to the graphics card to draw some extra cool air across it and straight out the back of the PC. Picture attached.
