I dug out the manual for the TM-1500 and it too has a spec up to 45,000. I am going to try the original TM firmware later today and will report back. Signal level certainly not a problem today in the sun!

Reporting back! The January 2007 TM firmware was re-installed. I am getting a good strong signal on 11030 for instance but now the 44951 SR channels don't even appear to reach signal strength of 35% (and I HAVE nudged the dish around and they are fine on the Skystar). I reckon that the SR is only 49 off the quoted 45000 maximum and that my receiver may be just out of spec. Anyway I'm not going to spend more time on it as there's always the SkyStar if needed (or anyone has any bright ideas!)
JK
PS - I didn't mean to use the word 'challenge' combatively, only in the sense of a trial!

Hi JK
I posted the following just over a month ago;

For information only.
As an exercise, I slowly increased the SR for the transponder on 53east, on my Technomate TM-5000DA receiver. The highest SR , with clear picture, is 44969. An SR of 44970 gives a blocky picture, an SR of 44971 gives a blank screen.
Just spending time until the post has been delivered.
BH

As you mention, your box spec might be slightly out.
Anyhow it's been an interesting little exercise. Except for the fact that I fell out of the attic after putting my extra boxes away. Didn't break anything, just dislocated my shoulder . That's what happens when one gets old and senile . I'm glad that I'm only a one finger typist on this occasion

Blimey BH, hope you're OK. Sounds nasty.

Just been up A&E myself with my son :

Fortunately he's OK. Thought he'd broken a finger, but hasn't.

Thanks BG. It happens quite easily with me since the hospital dislocated the shoulder to open up my rib cage when I had part of my lung removed nearly 40 years ago.
I just pop off the A&E for it to be put back in place, ouch!, and then have it strapped up for a week or so.
Hope that your boy is AOK.
3 cheers for the NHS, people knock them but what would we do without them?
BH
PS. My experience with broken fingers and toes is that they are just strapped to the next finger/toe until they mend.

Ouch. Hope your recovery is speedy.

Yes, they strapped my sons' finger to the next one. They said that even though it doesn't appear to be broken it may still take four to five five weeks to heal. It's swollen up like a balloon and has gone a frightening shade of purple.

He still has full feeling and good circulation so hopefully it's just the bruising coming out.

If it's really swollen up just make sure that the strapping is not too tight as that could cause circulation problems.

Sounds like some folk have been in the wars round here

Just done a quick scan of 53*E and found that I can't get a picture on my TM1500 with a symbol rate as high as 44951

Another transponder to add to the OK list here though is 11157 V 3255 (MINSK TV) with a 73% signal quality

I've not adjusted anything since Xmas though so things may need fine tuning again by now, I'll try again when I finally get that done :

Hi mship
I tried that transponder, shows up as active but no channel this morning, well spotted though.
I'm still rather surprised that the TM 1500's do not appear to decode an SR of 44950. The Technomate web site claim them to go from 2-45Msps. Could be a case of misselling or goods not fit for purpose .

I might e-mail them BH, just to see what their response is (if any)
