Default Hello everyone I'm new to this forum

Hello everyone I'm new to this forum but I am no stranger to Sat TV..I started out with a pace dish and box way back when the 1st astra sat went up and quickly moved to a motorised setup but I have been away from this fascinating subject for over 10 years and now I want to get back into the action...I want to buy a fully motorised system and have about £500 to spend but I would like it fitted as well, What would you guys recommend I buy

My partner is Russian so Russian progs would be a must but I love documentaries but want only free to air if there are any
thanks in advance and congrats on a nice warm friendly forum

hi dave welcome 2 sathelp,my advice is to get a blind scan receiver & as dig dish as poss for your fta signels.there are many blind scan receivers out there, there is a new 1 comming out in december called the vantage x221 ts ci.as soon as i can find where 2 get im getting 1.as the resedent feedhunter i search out fta signels here.what the price of this receiver is i dont know,it can scan hotbird in 3 minnets 7 seconds.it has a great tuner with init for weak signels.this must be given some thought as a by.

hi dave,im in old ways by 36 volts for dish movment.Moteck im told are good are disec motors, but with disec dont go over a meter for dish size due to wind forces.clark tech are clone receivers,if i was you i would for sure look @ the 1 above i posted.when dr dish gives a recomend for a receiver, its well worth taking notice.for the kit there i think is a good price.dish size if you more north uk i would not go under a meter in size.hope this helps out.

hi dave just looked @ the tecnomate link thats got a 80cm dish, for you i think would be a we bit small.as your in the north uk i would not go under a meter dish in size.if you could go to a 1.2 meter dish i think your wife would have better viewing.forget all the flash lnbs like 2db it wont make much difference on signel.you say you have £500 for fta system.have a good read though here & other pages before you dive in.somwhere here it will tell you about the difference on disec & 36 volts setup
http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/motors.htm
let me know when you have had a good read though there many pages.

Hi Dave,

I have the TM 1500 CI+ and it's a superb wee box, I also have the 2100A motor and it is fine for moving my 90 CM dish.

I can't comment on the rest of the gear (Dish, LNB, Cable) but I can tell you that the recomended wall bracket is a T&K type with a 2"(min) Steel pole as It's easier to align the dish etc for a motorised set-up. so I don't think the bracket in the deal will be much good.

After having a look at this page Sid I think 36 volt motor is going to be best for me...apart from speed and strenght what are the other differences between 36 volt and disec...does the 36 volt require a positioner?

hi dave, this is a link for my setup here, have a look.
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,1159.0.html
on a 36 volt setup the cheepest way to move a dish, would be 2 use a superjack EZ tracker with 4 core wire.one end to the superjack EZ & other to the motor or jack @ dish.(£58.95 is the superjack EZ tracker)if you could aford the channel master 1.2 meter dish setup.i would go for the cheeper way,but with a 24 inch super jack 2 move your dish(make this the havey duty 1).i think this is better than the 1224 motor in high winds.im not sure as to what size dish your after,so im just shooting the breezz here a bit.hope this helps out dave any questions just fire away.
