US internet protocol TV (IPTV) provider Interactive Television Networks has announced the beta launch of Setanta On Demand, a service that allows subscribers access to all scheduled European football and rugby games for 24 hours after the final whistle.
Interactive Television Networks (ITVN) currently carries Setanta Sports' programming, featuring around 1,000 live and short-delay sporting fixtures, including more than 90 live Premier League matches. Setanta Sports and Setanta On Demand are available to ITVN subscribers for $14.95 per month. The network also telecasts the Euro 2008 qualifying matches, the UEFA Cup, the Coca-Cola Cup, the French and Dutch national football leagues, and exclusive programming from Manchester United Television and Chelsea Television. ITVN CEO Charles Prast said his company is "making television smarter by offering on-demand access for soccer enthusiasts who may have to miss a match". He added: "With many of Setanta's high-profile matches scheduled during the week, early in the morning, on weekends or in conflict with other matches, ITVN's decision to create an on-demand archive truly enhances the package to the satisfaction of our Setanta subscribers. "Furthermore, this offering highlights ITVN's capability to offer remote DVR functionality, another advantage of IPTV over traditional broadcast solutions."
