German pay TV operator Premiere will launch a new pre-paid service branded Premiere Flex next week in an effort to lure new clients.

Georg Kofler, CEO of Premiere, hopes the service will trigger the interest of new audience groups – "people with a smaller media budget or less time to watch TV."

Premiere is targeting up to one million households with the service, which is on offer for €25 (US$32.90), €50 or €75.

The operator currently has 3.37 million subscribers to its pay TV packages – a healthy number given that it had lost the German soccer rights to rival Arena.
