hi nano,if i did not know better thay have a thing on this on dr dish on 13e .there was a guy from ozz way,he coved the foil with rustolame.he said it gave him better signel.from what i saw i say he was right.you should have a look m8.

hi satsid your talking about kevin in oz,he makes wooden dishes and covers them in tinfoil,i got the bug and made one myself.

Hi pride21,yes i think that was his name,i think he did a 3 or 5 meter dish.if my old worring cogs are right.Im sure i have telsat international with pics some where here.I would think in ozz there be ok,but i dont think i would like one here in winter.Just take this years winds.Its a great thing to make a dish like that,& when she pulls in signel i bet you feel good

Do you still have the dish? Is it still 'in service'?

hi yes i still have the dish i am making a portable h to h mount to fix it to for experimental purposes i tried it out on arabsat and got all analogue and digital channels including c-band,thats why im making the h to h to give it a better try,the dish is 1.4mtr.

Love this approach, but wouldn't have patience or probably accuracy of workmanship to achieve a working model. But suppose if I was stranded on an island, with loads of time would eventually achieve something. What kind of measurements would there be. Presuming centre focus would be simpler rather than off-set.

hi dohouch the dish i made is 1400mm,f/d ratio=0.4,focus 560mm,depth of dish 117.18mm.the equation for this is X=Y squared/4D(f/d)=Y squared/4x1400x0.4=Y squared/2240,where X= height of plot point and Y= interval of plot.it sounds harder to plot the measurement than it is.
