Default WRTH 1995

Heres a real blast from the past. This is a scan of the European channel list pages in the 1995 World Radio TV Handbook which I fished out of a bin at work today.

Whilst the info is obviously (c) WRTVH 1995, as the info is over 10 years out of date I cant see any problem in putting a couple of scans up for their historic interest.

Enjoy

Blimey something showing Bmac. Its a very pleasent blast from the past AS

I was wondering what the SCPC carrier was on the second page, so i did a bit of searching and came up with this.

Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC)

Short for Single Channel Per Carrier, a VSAT satellite transmission system that uses a separate carrier for each of its channels. SCPC is used for broadcast data and full-duplex audio/video communications. In an SCPC system, transmissions are sent to the satellite continuously on a single satellite carrier. The satellite signal is received at a single location, in the case of a point-to-point system, or at many locations in a broadcast system, providing hubless connectivity among multiple sites.

Advantage:

The primary advantage of SCPC is that the architecture allows full connectivity between any sites in the network. Additionally, SCPC allows incremental usage of the satellite transponder and therefore allows a flexible expansion of the network.

Bandwidth- UNLIMITED

Contrast SCPC with frequency division multiplexing, a technology that combines multiple channels on a single carrier.

Applications:

SCPC is an Integrated Digital Satellite Service which can fulfill all needs of business applications. Some of those applications are given below:

* Private Voice Transmission
* Low or High Rate Data Transfer
* Video Conference
* Fax
* CAD/CAM
* Electronic Document Distribution
* SAP/ERP

Some of SCPC clients:

* ISPs who want to provide best Internet services
* Voice Over IP operators who want to work with minimum delay
* Organizations who want to have high speed internet access
