Fifa president Sepp Blatter has proposed changing the fixture schedule of European leagues so that the season runs through the summer months.
Blatter told Germany's Kicker magazine that the season should begin in late February and end in November. He said: "I've just proposed to the clubs: play through the summer. "This would leave enough time for players to recover and there could be blocks of three weeks of national teams' qualifying games in winter." Blatter added: "This idea is supported by big European clubs." And to further ease fixture congestion, Blatter believes there should be more European groups with fewer teams for World Cup qualifying. He feels this would mean fewer games for national teams as urged by leading clubs. Source: BBC _________________________________________________ Cool, then we could play cricket in the winter, players could break their legs on skiing holidays instead of relaxing on the beach, and arse-blatter can get re-elected by bribing a different set of corrupt officials (allegedly). I think we could probably write what this guy knows about football on the head of a pin.

I think you could get it on the point, not the head.

And I suppose all the other summer sports can go and do one, can they Mr. Bladdered? >
![]() Dark, wet, windy, cold winter nights without any soccer? Has he ever tried playing soccer in the summer? It might look nice but it's bl00dy hard work, even if it doesn't seem that hot. I remember playing a pre-season friendly at Penrith one summer. At half time I sat under an ice cold shower for the full 15Min's, go and try that now! Bet you don't last long :spite: That's how hot I was and I only play local football ![]() And that's without mentioning the rock hard pitches (massive increase in ankle ligament injuries no doubt) ![]() I can't believe this guy is footballs top man :? ![]() Kev.

Thats just plain stupid. I can't believe these overpaid overhyped girlies moan about playing too much football. What has happened to a squad of 14 to 16 players for a season? Liverpool and Forest ruled Europe and England in the 70s and 80s playing 2 and 3 games a week so why can't these mard arses?
