Hi people.
Time for me to report that all is well here. First of all we had our system installed last weekend. I didn't even try to set it up myself cos it would have been out of my experience range. We have a 110cm dish installed with four LNBs. (on one of the chimneys) one quad one double two singles the quad is aimed at Astra-19.2E the double at ASTRA-28.2E- (but i sure it's actually EUROBIRD1 -28.5E) one single on Eutelsat W2-16.0E one single on Hotbird 13.0E My neighbour has feeds from the german language ASTRA 19.2 and from the Eutelsat and Hotbird I have the German Language Astra19.2E and the English ASTRA-28.2E / EUROBIRD1 -28.5E i also have a the option to use the receiver in two different parts of the house. The Sat guy did a good job and a clean one. My neighbour basically wanted Serbian speaking channels and whatever free German speaking channels he could get. He is happy and satisfied. In my household we wanted ORF(austrian) and whatever came FTA with it on the ASTRA 19.2E and i was dreaming of the free to air BBC and any other FTA english language channels. Well i'm sort of happy. I know that the footprint for the ASTRA 2D is right over the UK and i would have Buckley's of receiving anything here in Central Europe but i thought that i could maybe pick up some of the BBC on one of the other Sats in the group, the ASTRA 2A or 2B. In any case I'm sure i have the EUROBIRD1 -28.5E and maybe some bits and pieces from the ASTRA 28.2 if that's possible. (?) For example i have about 6 BBC test type channels with logo and audio test signals and some other channels that show 6 bbc channels at the same time on screen with their individual sound channels that i can access but can only view all together. And last week while i was surfing i found the final day, Adelaide Test Highlights on one of these test channels which i knew was also being shown on BBC1. I had the feed, saw the highlights and interviews (you bloody ripper!) and then the channel was gone. Bit confusing... Anyway the Clarke-Tech 2100 receiver is working just fine. It is very easy to use. (wife had it down in 60min) It does everything it says it will, easily and quickly. I'll get up in the attic some time this weekend and take a couple of images of the Sat set up. So in closing i have to say i am happy regardless of the couple of question marks i have. But Jeeez, there's a lot of rubbish up there. ![]() |

Hi sevengoals - excellent progress in a week
![]() Astra 2 28.5 and Eurobird 1 at 28.5E are close enough to be effectively co-located (a hobby sized dish has an acceptance angle of about 3 degrees, so 0.6 degrees isnt going to give it much trouble). The BBC interactive streams on Aastra 2A south beam are only intermittently used - normally when theres a big event on (World Cup, Chelsea flower show etc) They dont show programming as such...

Ok, now I understand. I've got the bbci on now. It's showing Grandstand, sports news, and the UK snooker championships. If it continues i'll get to see Match of the day tonight... ![]() And i didn't do the work myself, too complicated for us, but i informed myself beforehand so i was at least able to tell the Sat guy what i wanted and to keep some important things in mid like sat size, quality of LMB, cables, ect.. This site and its members helped heaps! ![]() ![]() |

Hello sevengoals.
I'm really pleased - you have a great little shared system worked out with your neighbour. What a sensible move. Yes, slightly disappointing with the Astra2 reception, but it's worth checking Lyngsat and scanning all the latest transponders once in a while. You might pick up a few more bits over time. As you say, it pays to do some homework even if you're going to get someone in to install it. How else will you know what you're getting for your money? ![]() We'd love to see some pictures Please post in our Photo Gallery section and attach them using the 'Additional Options' below the editing window. ![]() STICK
