Hi, I'm trying to pick up channels on the Eutelsat W2 satellite (mainly for the Romanian channels), i can get a signal from it but i am only finding about 7 channels, i have a 60cm dish with a Kaon digital receiver, i can pick up Hotbird and Astra 1 ok, does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong please? I'm situated in the Midlands...

Hi Stuck, welcome to the forum.
The channels on W2 are not easy, the signal level is lowish compared to most satellites. The first few transponders on W2 dont give a signal so if your receiver is trying to find a signal on one of those transponders then you will be unlucky. I suggest you set your receiver to the Alsat channel on freq 10957 H 2821 and see if you can locate the satellite and adjust for best signal.

Hi Stuck
Please don't think I'm trying to be funny but you aren't going to get much off W2 in the Midlands on a 60cm dish. I can normally get the Alsat Channel at about 60-70% Quality on my Technomate using a 90cm prime focus dish with most other stuff like Fox and National Geographic (Turkey) coming in at just over 50% quality. I'm in Wolverhampton so i shouldn't be that far away from you for distance to matter ![]() If you have managed to pick something up from W2 on a 60cm dish you aren't doing that bad. I find it a particularly awkward bird to get anything from > ![]() ![]() Nano

Thanks guys, and thanks for the welcome,
I guess reading from that i'll have to get a bigger dish, do we think 90cm will be enough or should i go bigger?? Also is there a limit (planning regs) to the size you can have stuck on the side of your house? Stuck |

The English planning regs changed recently.;
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...opic,16.0.html I can get all the 16E tp's on a 1m dish no problem.

And 1m happens to be the maximum dish size allowed in the UK without planning permission

I'm in SW Scotland and I get most (haven't really checked if I get all) Tp's on 16 E on a 90 CM (TD88) Dish. I get pixelation on some feeds though if the weather's particularly bad.
