Hello there all
Hoping one of you guys might be able to shed some light on a problem I have. Being a poor person I have bought some satellite gear off Ebay, a 80 cm elap dish and universal LNB and a success FTA decoder, yes I know but I am poor!! I live in the north of France, the somme , department 80 near Amiens and yep its muddy! OK I have been outside putting up the dish and pointing it in the right direction, this was made a lot easier by the fact I have a canalsat dish on the same side of the barn so I put my new dish under this and went a bit left and a bit down. Inside the house again , I sparked up the decoder and entered some transponders for the Bbc specifically cbeebies for my daughter, nothing , no signal quality but 75% signal level. After entering various transponders, I found out that I can receive astra 2a and b ( 80% quality, same as my canal sat) but not 2d or eurobird,(0 quality) they're all meant to be in the same bit of sky i think aren't they? anyone got any ideas to help out a newbie to the satellite world? Oh I checked and re did all my coax conections, no difference, I tried the canel sat dish , exactly the same result, thanks for reading this Ratty |

Hi ratty :welc1:
You might find some information about 2D reception in France by looking at http://www.astra2d.com/france.htm Cheers BH

You should definitely persevere, as an 80cm dish should easily bring in 2D near Amiens.
SES-Astra have a new really fancy footprint tool at: http://www.ses-astra.com/corpSite/sw..._map/index.php Have you carefully checked that your transponder list is up to date? Lyngsat/Kingofsat.net/Flysat have recent lists. Is there anything that could be partially obstructing the dish's view of the sky? Any signs of damage to your dish or LNB? Have you tried adjusting the skew of your LNB? It will need to be twisted in the clamp quite a few degrees clockwise if viewed from the front of the dish. Let us know how you go. STICK

Hi there
I have tried my box on a friends dish ( he picks up sky no problems) and I still only get astra 2a and B , the 10733 tp has 0 quality . I have now checked that I have the 22khz tone set up and the LNB power is on. I have tried Eurobird on the standard out of the box settings and again I get nothing. Any ideas appreciated but I think its the decoder..... Thanks Ratty |

I would suggest that for the killer test, you try your friends box on your dish - then you'll know for sure that it's the receiver.
