Default adding second dish

ok this is one of those posts that could be any problem but its driving me crazy right now

some time ago I got an sl65 and 80 cm dish from lidl when i moved into my new house there was aready an old sky dish so the recever on this

I thought its about time i added the 80cm dish today cut the feed from the sky dish added a Diseqc switch and put the sky dish and lnb 2 worked a treat

then added the new 80 disk as lnb1 told the reciever lnb1 was now 19.2, and put my sat finder in-line but it did not power the sat finder when i asked the receiver the go to 19.2?

Ive metered the cable its not broken, tryed the sat meter on the sky dish works fine and tryed the sky dish on lnb 1 port again woks fine also tried a second lnb

any thoughts on what i could be missing ?

Arden

Have you set the disecq switching up on the menus on the receiver? If not then it wont switch over to the other dish.

OK, let me get this right.

You have a two-way DiSEqC switch.

The Sky dish/LNB works on both switch input one and switch input two once you change the receiver settings to match.

Nothing from the Lidl dish/LNB on either input one or two.

Have you had anything from the Lidl dish/LNB at all? Have you ever had anything out of either of the LNBs you are trying on the Lidl dish?

My advice would be to take the switch out of the equation altogether until you have aligned your Lidl dish correctly on 19.2E, and then try refitting it.

Are you saying that the meter you have works on the sky dish/coax but not the Lidl dish/coax?

If so, I suggest that you have a short in that coax. Check at the LNB end for a voltage between the core and braid. It should be between 12V - 18V.

Make sure you turn off your receiver at the mains before messing with the coax/'F' connectors and or plugging/unplugging any coax, as a short could kill your LNB and/or receiver.

Let us know what you find.

Sticks warning is well advised - I blew a disecq port on my first 4 way switch through an accidental short....

Thunderbolts or sleeve anchors. If you have to use anything else, make sure they're big and plentiful

I doubt that both LNBs are duff. I still think that you have the LNB switching setup incorrectly in the SL65. If the receiver is scanning 19.2E on your Sky dish, it's because that LNB is tagged as 19.2E in the receiver.

It might be worth checking the manual again to see what it says about DiSEqC switching.

but I replaced the switch and it worked have managed to get hotbird and Astra19 so far

its "mounted" if you call it that on the ground so now time to find it a home on the side of the house
