Hi all. I would appreciate your thoughts and help to restore my satellite before I miss xmas eastenders! My picture quality and signal strength started to deterioate before giving up altogether. The box reported 'no signal being received'. I took a look at the LNB and it looked knackered. So I got a new Humax twin LNB stuck it on the dish and...nothing, still 'no signal' message. I've tried a different box but got the same thing. This may sound stupid but there is a yellow plastic cover on the LNB, does it have to be removed?? All ideas/comments gratefully received. Ta.
If it makes any difference i live in Portugal, use a big dish and the boxes are a Thomson and Sony. Signal strength always a bit weak but no problems before. |

Welcome to the forum jd clover
The yellow plastic is probably just across the face of the lnb and no it should not be removed. It keeps the weather out. It is possible that you have a lot of water in your cable. It seems to get into it very easily unless you have sealed it with self amalgamating tape. Is there any way that you can try another length of cable? The other possibility is that your dish has moved off the satellite. Is the mounting secure or is there any sign of movement?

Thanks for the quick reply. Come to think of it the end of the cable was a bit rusty. I'm off now to get another length and give that a go. The dish is very securely fixed so i don't think it has moved. I'll let you know what happens. thanks again.

Ended up buying a new box and LNB. I have the same signal strength as before but can't get ITV, channel 4, 5, or other ITV/4 stuff like E4 etc. Didn't have any problems with these in the past. Any ideas?
Also I used to link another TV from the RF OUT 2 socket but now I can only get a picture but no sound on the second TV. Your thoughts would be very welcome. Happy Xmas. |

E4 is a pay channel on Sky UK
C4 & C5 are ftv not fta - you need an active crad to view them If you have a ftv card or an expired subs card then it has probably missed anauthorisation update - it should come awake again in 24-48 hours. ITV is in the clear & shouls just reappear on the box epg.

For your RF Out 2 problem, get the remote and hit:
Services 4 0 1 Select ...with no pauses. Now hit 4 - RF Outlets, and turn the power on.

I think you'll find that you just need to leave the card in there for a day or two. It should spring back to life.
