Hi All and Seasons Greetings to you all!
I've not been around much due to work and family things so hey  to all you that helped me previously and I hope you are all doing good. I purchased a Lidl kit earlier in the year and managed to get it working on a temprary basis - though packed it away until I could get time to angle grind the path etc to run the cabling proper like. Subsequently my wife has suggested that she might like to purchase me a dish motor for my birthday early in the new year - I have absolutely zero knowledge of motors, I know that my SL65 will power one and that is about it.I intend to install it on a short patio mount. My question(s) to you is; What motor(s) would you suggest? What price should I look to pay? Where should I look to buy? and finally will my bog standard dish be ok for now (the one that comes in the Lidl 59.99 deal)? I saw that maplins do one for about 50 sheckles - is it any good? http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...7176&doy=20m12 Thank you all.

Hello m8.
Hey, a wife that offers to buy you a dish for your birthday! 8) There are two motors that stand head and shoulders above all others for me. The Moteck SG2100A and the STAB range of motors (HH-90, HH-100 and HH120). My choice would be the Moteck. They can be had for £40-£50 if you shop around and are superb. The Maplins one is slightly inferior and overpriced. The Moteck is also sold under several other names/makes. It doesn't matter what the label says as long as it's an SG2100A. One UK seller on eBay has them for £33.95 plus £12.50 postage, a German seller for £29.90 and £9.80 postage. There are others. There is no customs/tax or anything to pay from Germany or any other EU country. The dish that comes with the Lidl kit (at 63cm) will fit on the Moteck, but is a bit small. A 90cm dish is the ideal size for general use. It won't get everything, but it's not ridiculously large either. The Triax TD88, Gibertini 90, Andrews/Channel Master 90, Raven Gemini 90, the Clear Metronic dishes (85cm) and Hirschmann Hit-FESAT (85cm) are all very good dishes. Other respectable dishes are Global and ISS. I have a Triax TD88, but will be switching to a Gibertini in the summer. Glad to have you back. Take it easy and have a great Christmas

Mr StickYes, my boss is nice to me sometimes. I think she likes the idea of oodles more channels. I will have a look into a Moteck, the german deal sounds very interesting. I think I'll settle for the dish I have at the moment and upgrade later in the year. Here's me wishing I took one of the big lidl ones at the time. BTW, I like the new forum look, it was nice before, but better now. What do you call this colour? Warm Winter Peach? ![]() Cheers!

Cool.
Sat stuff always seems cheaper from Germany and Holland.
