Default 22 Degree Offset dish?

Hello again, I am finding lots of sats now, I do have one small query however, does my Triax TD88 have a 22 degree offset? I tried a search but no luck, once I know this I can set up the inclonometer I have made (20p for a protractor and a couple of bits of aluminium). The I will be able to do rapid changes of less than one hour :-)

I was sure that the tech-specs were on the Triax site, but now it just says:

Quote:

Due to technical issues with our previous website, we are currently in the process of building a new site.

During this transition period not all the functionality is available. For example, details on the product range supplied by Triax UK will be uploaded in the coming weeks.

If you require product details in the meantime, please contact the customer service team on 0845 601 0578 or email sales'at'triax.co.uk
So an email might do the job.

I actually think that you should approach it from the other way. Calibrate your device by using an existing receivable satellite and working backwards.

OK Stick, I can do it as you say, by zeroing in on something not to strong and calibrating on that, perhaps with a couple of others for comparison.

The scale on the dish mount is not very good, it does have figures, they just dont relate to anything!

I will have a play tommorrow, if allowed :-)

You could have worked it out by peaking the signal on a powerful sat and then, by looking up the elevation required at your location for that sat, calculated the offset of the dish using your tool as a reference.

Still, either way you now have an aid to future setups

One of our mods uses a series of different length sticks to set the elevation of the dish, one for each sat.

The sticks idea is a good one, err, Stick! So thats why you are called stick :-)

But with a bit of maths, a spirit level and my superb home made inclonometer I got it to within one degree first time, adjusted it on a couple of sats and bingo, I can set the inclination first, spot on, then just swing the dish aiming with the compass and I can find anything I can receive. I am now working on the 5mm plywood arc, I will hang a plumb line with a pointer on it and mark the board with the name and position. Thanks for the plumb line tip from somewhere on the forum.

Hmm in my book you can't beat an arched log with little bits cut out where the lnb arm goes and green marker pen on the patio. Can go straight to any satellite within seconds No need for protractors angles and trigonometry.
