Default THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU

So, you just want to have a look at a couple of satellites, nothing to serious, so you get yourself a few bits and off you go.( Just like me two months ago)

Trouble is, you will get hooked, it isnt important whats on the damn thing, its the challenge of receiving it.

You will find yourself hunting weaker and more obscure satellites, scanning every transponder, standing outside swinging the dish up down and side to side for hours on end.

My wife now thinks I am a pervert, (took her a long time to find out :-0 ) you just cant help finding the porno channels, my neighbours think I am mad, I have to now watch TV in the conservatory so as not to interfere with the others halfs viewing, and I have started to learn Bulgarian, Russian, German etc. etc. all at once !

If you are determined to start down the slippery slope then I would advise a few items not mentioned elsewhere.

They are:- Two pairs of thermal socks, Good boots, Stormproof suit, thick gloves, warm hat with ear muffs, pair of binoculars (for seeing the signal strength on the 8" portable) flask of coffee, small tent, and a chain saw to take down every tree on the horizon.

Stop now before it to late!

You will get over it unless you are like Analoguesat. Once you find your favourites it will be a bit easier.

And I dont believe that you are learning all those languages. The oohs and the aahhs and the grunts are the same in all the languages.

Yeah - look what happened when I got interested - I set up 2 web sites which have had over 200,000 hits, and ended up as moderator or admin on quite a few satellite related forums.....

7E should be easy enough on an 80cm dish. Ive never had any problems with it up here.
