Default Le Guen steps down as Rangers manager

Paul Le Guen has left Ibrox by "mutual consent".

After his public stripping of the captaincy of Barry Ferguson and dropping him for the 1-0 win at Motherwell, Le Guen met with Rangers chairman David Murray and has walked out as Rangers manager.

I think the guy engineered the situation so that he had no choice but to leave, as the job was too big for him and the cultures vastly different.
Some of his buys have been nothing short of dreadful imo.

Is that cultures or vultures?

I've a feeling the knives have been sharpened and ready for a while :?

The Le Guen/Ferguson bout has also been on the cards hasn't it?

I think that most Rangers fans that I know were supporting Le Guen, until this latest showdown with Ferguson.
Rumours have been rife that he hasn't been happy with the non-contact training sessions, and not been allowed to urge on his team mates when they're not performing :spite: a la "what a captains supposed to do"

Imo, a rap on the knuckles for organising a team night out in Newcastle for Xmas, would have been sufficient.

I was supporting Le Guen until the news broke on new years day. Seems to all have been blown out of proportion and admire Ferguson for standing up for himself. He has been our best player this season by far but can't do it all himself. :?

Time now for some real Rangers men to be on the staff again - any one of -W. Smith, A. McCoist, T. Butcher, G Souness, etc, etc

I hope you lot don't take Wattie Smith as he's doing a good job with the National team, Ally McCoist would be my choice, the interviews would be priceless. :roflmao:

Fair point about Wattie, Ferg

Eveybody usually laffs with McCoist, rather than laffing at us noo ops:

If Watti e can't be tempted out of retirement (half a dozen games a year with the national side), then I'd like to see Big Terry Butcher and McCoist given a chance. At least they knew what it meant to play for the jersey.

I wouldn't put Souness in charge of a fruit and veg stall

I like McCoist though. One of the best pundits on TV, if not the best.

A guy who tells it like it is

Default Ferguson back, but not as skipper

Barry Ferguson returned to the Rangers midfield for Sunday's Scottish Cup visit to Dunfermline but was not wearing the captain's armband.

Ferguson was stripped of the captaincy and dropped last week by Paul Le Guen, who resigned as manager soon after.

Under interim manager Ian Durrant, Gavin Rae continues to lead the team.

"Barry is a talented footballer and someone I want out there," Durrant told BBC Sport. "It (the captaincy) is down to whoever takes over."

Scotland manager Walter Smith is expected to return to Ibrox and that could be good news for Ferguson, who skippers the national side.

The situation gets worse, ops:
3-0 down at the moment.
Looks like our domestic season is over in January
