I've just received one of the above on several people's recommendations. The plan is
to take it out to spain next weekend and use it in place of the (rubbish) LNB I've got on my prime-focus dish out there. But ..... (well, 2 buts actually) First of all. Regarding the different between a quad and a quattro LNB. The unit I've been sent claims to be a QDF-031 QUAD LNB. All good so far. However, it came with a page of noise & gain test results - the 4 graphs are labelled: Port1 Vert Low Port2 Horz low Port3 Vert high Port4 Horz High which sounds suspiciously like the 4 ports for a quattro LNB, not a quad. Can anyone who's got a QBF-031 let me know what the titles are on your test report, please? (At present, I'm going with cork-up rather than conspiracy and I'm going to assume that the LNB is right, but they labelled the graphs incorrectly, but: read on ....). Number 2. Again, about the NF & Gain graphs. All 4 graphs cover the frequency range 950 - 2150 MHz. However for the port1 and port2 graphs, the plots start at 950MHz and only go as far as 1950MHz. The plots on the graphs for ports 3 and 4 start at 1100MHz and go all the way to 2150MHz. So the first two start at the beginning of the axis and go most of the way across, while the last 2 ports have a gap on the left, but go all the way to the end. Does this correspond to the Low / High band port labels I referred to above? I'd be grateful for any thoughts Pete |

Hi Pete,
I've recently purchased an Invacom Universal Quad LNB (QDH-031) and it sounds like lt came with a similar report to your's. It has two stickers on it (the paperwork), one saying 'NF & GAIN RESPONCE' and the other being a small gold sticker giving details of the model bought. It looks to me as though it is just a standard information sheet shipped with all LNB's with maybe only the gold 'model' sticker changed :? Kev

The paperwork you have definitely sounds like it's from the quatro and not the quad.
Does your actual LNB not have a sticker or model number on it? I've attached the two data sheets in case you don't have them already.

OK,
I did what I should have done earlier and called the supplier. I explained about the labels on the response graphs implying a quattro rather than a quad LNB. He responded that the quad has the ports numbered 1 to 4, whereas the quattro has them labelled high/low vert/horz. Sounds sensible to me, so provided no-one says "oh no they're not" then I think I'm happy with my LNB being a quad. Since I ordered it specifically to install in spain, when I go over next week, I really hope this is correct. Thanks for your help guys, I'll let you know how I get on Pete |

Sounds reasonable. It makes sense that the quatro should be labeled in the way he mentions.
For total piece of mind, can't you test it before you go? Do you have a dish and a suitable feedhorn here? Even a real Heath Robinson lash up on an offset dish would soon tell you.
