Hi,
In Sub-Sahara africa, got Techno1500CI + 88cm dish (local dealer recommended) + Universal single Ku LNB. Connected everything but don't seem to pick up any signal from Telstar12 direction. I can easily rotate dish to PAS 7/10 and get strong signal (87%). Telstar 12 is ~127 degrees west of PAS7/10 and with a smaller elevation (~2 degrees lower). Tried all these settings and rotating dish (with LNB connection at 10 to 10 clock position as advised by dealer) but unable to get signal. Please help!! Do I need special LNB or Techno settings? |

Sub Saharan Africa is well out of the official transmission coverage area for Telstar 12
http://www.loralskynet.com/fleet/tel...Telstar_12.jpg You probably need a much bigger dish to get it.

I would also have expected T12 to be higher in the sky than PAS 7/10 not lower.

Check the loralsky picture again - subafrica has a spot beam over it. According to flysat, lyngsat etc - there is a Europe+South Africa Beam. According to the official Telstart12 pamphlet, EIRP is 46.7dBW.

Have you made sure that the transponder settings on your receiver are set to a transponder on the south african beam. :?
If you are set to a transponder that is on the european or American beam you won't get a sausage ![]() Check here for frequencies:- http://www.lyngsat.com/t12.html

Ok that changes everything. T12 and PAS will be at approx the same elevation as PAS &/10 as you will be at around 28E.
Try 12608 H 19279 2/3 which is supposed to be on the S Africa beam.

On my Techno, I have cleared all satellites and channel lists and have only two (PAS7/10 and Telstar12). Because my C-band dish is already pointed to PAS7/10, I was able to do a blind scan and populate the channel list for it. I have physically removed the dish connection and coonected it to my Telstar 12 dish (until I get a DiSeqC switch). For Telstar 12, I have to manually enter channel info and I am stuck. I figured the following:
1. In the "Add channels" menu for Telstar 12, Transponder selected is [1] 11.124 GHz (one of the transponders for Europe+South Africa) - which channel should I select to add? 2. Channel name - Can I choose any name? 3. The VPID and APID will depend on the selected channel and appears on lyngsat - what is PPID (or PCR PID) and where do I find it? Thanks and regards! |

From Analoguesat's reply, I gather I should be entering FTA channel info for starters and not encrypted channels. Can I use the Techno1500 as a signal meter to position dish? I also have a sat beeper (the simple stuff).
