Default Digital Switch Over

Hello folks,

This is my first time on this forum so forgive me if this is a stupid question...

I live in Whitehaven, Cumbria, the first are to go through the digital switch over later this year. At the moment I have Sky through a PACE digibox and an analogue terrestrial aerial. When the switchover happens I would like to have one box that can receive Sky and output 2 RF channels. One to watch and one to record.

IS THIS POSSIBLE??

I'd prefer a box without a HDD as I already have a DVD/HDD recorder with an analogue tuner.

Please help

Not possible. Theres no such box as far as I know.

You will need 2 tuners to do what you want to do - so you will need either:

2 sky boxes (or a Sky+ box - where you record onto the internal hard drive.)
1 DTT box and 1 sky box
2 DTT boxes.

Such beasties will no doubt become available in time but lets be brutally honest - the Border ITV region isnt important enough for such toys to become available yet. FFS - we dont even havedecent DAB coverage yet!

Hi Chilly, welcome to the forum

You would think that these things would be on the shelf and ready to go wouldn't you?

Maybe the best you're going to be able do (minimum cost/maximum flexibility) is to get a simple Freeview DTT box to feed your existing recorder and leave your digibox as it is. That would at least give you the maximum number of channels (the free channels on your Sky box are not exactly the same as those on Freeview).

There are also one or two twin-tuner non-Sky digital satellite receivers out there, none that I know of providing two independent RF outputs though.

If you really want one receiver, then the Sky+ route is the cleanest, but also the most expensive (you have to subscribe to use the HDD functions).

Hope this helps.
