Default Signal problem with SS2

On my TM1000 while pointing at 19E and 13E I get signal quality of between 70 and 80 percent but with the skystar 2 I am getting less than 50 percent which means losing a lot of channels. I am using the loopthrough on the tm to the ss2 and have tried 2 or 3 different sets of drivers. Anyone any ideas why this could be happening?

Does the problem go away if you connect the Skystar directly?

How long is the cable run?

Jonty, I would strongly recommend getting a twin lnb and run the SS2 and receiver separately. You can have the tow on different channels, watching and recording and the signal will usually be better.

If I connect the skystar directly to the dish it goes up to about 55 and the cable length is only about 30 ft. Runs from the living room to just outside the patio doors but it does have a join in the co-ax but it is the same for the technomate. Going to b and q this weekend for stuff to put post in the ground and set it all up properly. To be honest I am not using the skystar as much now I have the technomate but I would like the option to use both. Is there such a thing as a dual monoblock lnb as I like the set up I have at the moment.

Two twins and two switches is the closest thing to a 'twin monobloc'.

Is there no way you can get a motor? So much more flexible, and then just one twin would give you everything on both receivers.

Can't afford a motor at the moment but its something I am thinking about for the summer. I have just had another play with different cable and still getting the same results no matter whether I connect the dish straight to the skystar or through the loopthru on the technomate. I thought someone said a few weeks ago that they get a stronger signal on the skystar than anything else so I am thinking that is where the problem is. At the moment I have a run from the dish to the tm and then from the tm into the living room where the pc is. Same cable or different cable still brings the same result. Think I might have to get in touch with Technisat and see if there have been any similar problems in the past.

The signal quality indicator on my Skystar either reads 100% or 0%.

It just works like a lock indicator. It never shows anything else. I suspect a driver issue in my case, as every viewer displays the same thing. It could also be that the card is not able to correctly report the figure to the driver in the first place. :?

Ignore the actual quality figure you're seeing for the moment. Do you still have a significant loss of channels when the Skystar is connected directly to your dish? That's all you should focus on IMO.

What driver version are you on?

on the skystar I have lost about 3/4 of the channels. None of the art channels or tps channels are being picked up. Have just installed the very latest from technisat which is a beta version and have tried about 4 different drivers in the last few weeks. Will keep trying when I get in from work tonight.

Okie doke taken a screen shot of levels at the moment. As you say Stick the quality level is either 100% or 0% but the Level varies enormously.
