Welcome to the forum quest.

Is your motor actually moving the dish over the whole arc, or is it sticking at a set position?
What type of motor is it?
Is it stopping at the same position each time or is it just moving but not the right distance?

It could be a stcking motor, software bug, faulty reed switch etc. Your answers may help to pinpoint the problem.

Ok, looking at the acu details I imagine that your motor is an actuator. That looks like a long tube with a rod moving in and out to turn the dish via a bracket.

The possibilities are:
That the motor is jambing at a set position or there is an obstruction stopping the dish from turning.
The east and west software limits have been changed on the acu box.
The reed switch in the motor has become faulty, so sending false info back to the acu box.

If you have a manual for the acu then you can check adjustment of the limits.
In addition, the motor has mechanical limits that can be set but if it has been working ok then it is unlikely to be that.

Let us know if I am wrong about the motor type and we will think again.

Just a bit of background info here.

From what I remember, Nokia went their own way on dishes/motors and positioners, and I'm not sure how much mixing and matching you can do. I think only a limited number and type of actuators work with the SatScan positioning system, but I don't think that's what you have. See if you can pick the bones out of the article I've pasted below from rickmaybury.com. It appears that your positioner is a 'standard' 36V item, at least in terms of its output.

I've got a feeling that when your positioner does give up the ghost, you'll either have to find a second-hand one or just replace the whole lot - receiver & positioner.

Hopefully your problem is the actuator itself. A strip/clean/grease/rebuild and maybe a replacement sensor should do it, or a replacement item if it looks too knackered to bother with.

I'll move this thread into our new Nokia section just as soon as I've created one

Nokia have always opted for a path of gentle evolution, rather than drastic revolution, which is one of the reasons why the SAT 1800 SatScan looks pretty much like every other Nokia satellite receiver of the last three or four years. However, SatScan is quite a big step forward for Nokia; until now they’ve mostly relied on supplying external antenna control units or ACUs, for those wishing to upgrade to motorised dish systems. This concept has stood them in good stead for many years, and it makes a lot of sense, but now, presumably in recognition of the fact that space is at a premium in many home entertainment systems, they’ve finally got around to designing and building a one-box, integrated receiver-positioner.

However, there is a catch. Unlike most other motorised systems, this one only works with a specially designed positioner. In order to use a standard actuator it has to be connected to Nokia’s matching antenna control unit (ACU 8152). That’s because the on-board positioner powers and controls the motor mount, using the LNB feed c@ble. The voltage and current this c@ble can carry are limited, so the motor and gearbox has to be a very efficient design. This also restricts the size of the dish that can be used, to a maximum of 1.2 metres.

The rest of the SatScan’s feature list should be reasonably familiar as it is based on the popular SAT 1800S receiver.
