You will love Bahn TV on 19E. Overnight they show footage filmed from inside the cab of German trains, looking forward in a drivers eye view. Occasionally you get special programmes. Just found this wonderful programme showing steam train tours. Here we see 5 steam locos and a steam tram type thing pulling 2 coaches and a wagon

A most interesting channel with views from the cabs. The thing you notice is that their trains are much smoother running than ours seem to be as the visuals are as smooth as silk. Having had a holiday in Germany I can confirm that is the case and you can stand in a train without having to hold on to anything without falling over. They also run on time and if you have to change to a connecting train it's always there waiting for you. The staff then hurry you along the platform to ensure that no train ever runs late - a great system. If the train does happen to be lat, they hold up the connecting train.
In Scotland, no transport is interconnected and I believe that the last train to Wemyss Bay can sometimes arrive in time to miss the last boat and see the last ferry to the Island of Bute sailing away!!

At least Wwemyss bay has a damned train service - my nearest rail station is 40 miles away thanks to Dr Beeching
![]() With a bit of luck we should rejoin the rail network in 2012 ![]()
