Hello, glad i found this help site hope someone can help me. Totally new to satellite systems. I'm living in the R.Ireland and wondered can someone tell me is it possible for me to receive Channel 4 (One of my favorite TV channels) on a Strong Free view system and what info/frequencies I need to enter into the Strong Channel menu? Any help much appreciated.

Hello m8, welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, channel 4 isn't FTA, it's FTV (Free To View) - encrypted in the un-hacked NDS system, but available without subscription to Sky. You will need a card from Sky though (or via eBay) - a fixed £20 one-off fee is payable... and here comes the really bad news... you'll really need a Sky digibox too ![]() If your Strong has a CI slot, you can run a Dragon CAM with the Sky card, but you need a digibox or Dreambox to keep the card active beyond a month or so.

Thanks for your reply, that's a pitty Channel 4 isn't FTV, wonder why it isn't when Film4 and BBC are FTV.
Don't have a clue what Dragon CAM is. Is it possible for me to get a card from sky here in Ireland without having to subscribe to sky for a certain amount of time, if I was willing to buy a sky digibox? |

Terminology is everything here.
FTA is Free To Air FTV is Free To View Only one of them costs nothing and requires no card - the first - FTA. BBC, Film4 etc. are FTA and can be received on your Strong. FTV is encrypted, or scrambled. This is where you need a card. This is NOT a subscription, and can be purchased from Sky - but not from Ireland if you want channel4 (as far as I know - I'm not an expert on Sky in Ireland). The only way for you to get one is to buy it from eBay or similar. Sky charge a £20 one-off fee for these cards. You will have to pay whatever the going rate on eBay is. Hope that helps.
