Thanks that's helpful.

So when looking to buy a technomate 1500 are there any differences in versions / packages for sale, or will they all come with the same set up etc?

There are three basic flavours of the TM-1500CI+.

The first is the original, just known as the 1500CI+. The second was an upgraded box, which had a problem with the blind scan fixed (it used to take several hours). This carried the suffix 'Super'.

Then came the TMS-1500CI+ - i.e. TMS as opposed to TM. The 'S' was supposed to signify 'Sensitive' - that the receiver had a more sensitive tuner, and could therefore demonstrate significantly better signal reception in fringe areas. That claim, it has to be said, has not be borne out by the findings of our members, though here in the UK we're not on the fringe of very much at all.

The thing that has been noted on more than one occasion, is that with the introduction of the sensitive version, there was also a return of the problem with the blind scan. Ho hum.

You may decide that the blind scan isn't of much interest to you, but personally I'd like to have it if I'd paid for it and would go for a 'Super'.
