Here's a (near) pointless little challenge for you all. Any time you find a real high SR, remember this thread.
What's the highest Symbol Rate you've ever found on any transponder on any (non-military) satellite anywhere in the world? I just stumbled across a crazy rate, and it got me thinking. I'll keep that one under my hat for now. Let's see if you can either find it, or better it. ![]() What? You want a prize? Hmm, OK - but only if you match or better my find ![]() What about a universally useful manual A/B switch that I have cluttering up my sat-junk cupboard? Yes, that'll do nicely. A proper high-isolation satellite c@ble switch, allowing you to run two dishes into one receiver (i.e. one at a time, but without having to keep swapping coax), or two receivers on one dish system (again one at a time, but switched). This switch is NOT designed for external use. Picture attached. To win, you must specify the satellite, transponder frequency, polarisation, AND state where you found the info, so I can verify it. If I detect any funny business, like posting bogus stuff on your own website, you will be disqualified! I take no responsibility for the item being lost in the post, but I will provide proof of posting, if required. Competition ends midnight GMT on Valentines day, 14th Feb 2007. What a big softie I am :give: Rules Applicants must be over 18, blah blah. In the event of a tie (i.e. two different transponders, found on different satellites and using the same high rate) I'll set a tie-breaker search-the-net type question. The eventual winner will obviously need to PM me with their address. Anything I've forgotten will be secretly added later. Admin's decision is final, and only correspondence containing nude pictures of Jennifer Aniston will be entered into. The competition is open to all members, including 'staff'. Feel free to join in and take the pee, as smug people are humbled by ever-superior numbers. You may even wish to challenge (nicely, please) the validity of any given claim! I'll get the ball rolling with a real boring one, but then currently, I still have the switch ![]() 27,500 - loads of the Sky transponders on 28.2E Enjoy, STICK

OK, that's a nice find - but seeing as you've offered to disqualify yourself, the figure to beat is still 27,500
but I suppose you do win some kudos... :spite:It just goes to show what can be found though.

That was a long post just to get rid of an A-B switch.

The highest SR that I can get a fta picture from with my equipment is 53east, 11044V, 44939, 3/4.
As I have a couple of A-B switches I shall not bother to look for any higher SR's. BH
