Hispasat is the golden goose I'd like to conquer next. A little terrified to move anything at the moment for fear of losing it all. Hi BGonaSTICK,
![]() Yes I now have the USB stick with a copy of Flashwizard Pro on it. I am a little confused with the dreambox communication (network,LAN Setup) :? Do I enter my IP server address here (in my case talk talk)? 192.168.1.4 or does the dreambox have its own address? Net mask is 255.255.255.0 nameserver ? Gate way 192.168.1.1 does that sound right? The the reason I ask is that the prerequisite assumption for the Flash Wizard Pro is the IP in the dreambox is set and the PC connected. Can you advise me on this please. ![]() |

Can I just confirm your network setup again please?
IIRC you have a TalkTalk DSL connection with a modem. The modem is connected to the PC by the Ethernet cable, is that correct? And it's just a modem, not a router, right? It doesn't have an IP address? Perhaps you can just refresh my memory on all the IP settings and whatnot of your PC. Cheers, STICK

Hi BGonastick, thanks again for your help.
IIRC ? DSL? My internet connection is with Talk Talk unlimited access The modem is connected to the PC by the Ethernet c@ble, that is correct. "it's just a modem, not a router, right? It doesn't have an IP address"? It is just a modem provided by Talk Talk no I don't believe it has a IP address. Please bare in mind I have no experience with routers or networking. Thanks BGonaSTICK hope you can help me sort this networking business out. Reading the posts it will be more than worth it for the Dreambox ![]() Dezzy |

Life is much easier once the computer can talk to the DB. When the DB arrives set it up, get your lnb switching set up first so you are operational and learning the baics (its fairly easy within the menu structure) then we can think about more advanced fun and games with it later.

It seems that your modem got IP address. In fact, I haven't seen Ethernet ADSL modems without its own IP yet.
Your modem IP is 192.168.1.1. It also looks like your modem got some routing abilities (it would help if you would provide name/model of the modem) as it can distribute IP adresses by DHCP. I suggest you just connect DB straight to modem. If there are no free connectors left on it, then get Ethernet switch (these are extremely cheap these days - around 8 quid) and plug both your PC and DB to it, then connect switch to modem. Or get another router and then set modem in bridged mode, so that router would 'dial' TT. |

Yes, that sounds about right.
Dezzy, can you go to the command line and 'ping 192.168.1.1' just to be quite clear on this before we go any further. Let us know the results. Finally, can you just confirm that you have absolutely nothing else connected to your 'network'. Assuming that you get a response to your ping (and you have no other devices connected) then you need to decide on how you want to connect your PC and Dreambox. A hard-wired 4 port 10/100 fast Ethernet switch would give the best performance, but you might want to think about wireless if your DB isn't in the same room as the rest of your stuff. Let us know where your kit is physically located and if you want to go that way. Wireless is slower but often more convenient. My DB is wireless. BTW, IIRC = if I remember correctly, DSL = Digital Subscriber Line and BTW = By The Way ![]()

Or, if you want interference-free environment (from my experience WiFi suffers greatly when microwave is on) then Homeplug AV or 85 is a good alternative. But if you are not planning to stream video out of/to DB then WiFi bridge should work fine.
