Default Problem with one transponder

Hi, After much deliberation I took the plunge and bought a Technomate 1500CI+ (supposedly patched, not sure how to tell).
I also have a Comag SL55 which is setup for Astra 2.
I plan to add another dish soon but for the moment I swoped the SL55 for the Technomate and did a Network scan for FTA. It picked up just about everthing that the SL55 had found except for transponder 10906 V (the one with ITV3).
I tried deleting it and manually adding it but it makes no difference, it can't find any channels there.
Any ideas what is happening or any other steps I could try?
Thanks for your help.

Well, it's definitely there, but it is a relatively weak transponder.

Does the Comag still find it if you scan it now? If so, what sort of signal do you get?

Hmm just run across this - it may explain things:

Taken from : http://blogs.rnw.nl/medianetwork/?p=7145

Satellite operator Eutelsat said today it was investigating the source of a mystery signal which temporarily jammed broadcasts by several television channels and AFP’s news services. Eutelsat, one of the world’s three main operators, would not say whether it believed the “unidentified interference” was deliberate or accidental.

“We have noticed interference” to the signal since Tuesday afternoon, said a spokesman for the Paris-based company. Eutelsat said that the difficulties were not caused by the company, nor by Globecast, which provides the bandwidth signal. Globecast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, also refused to comment on the origin of the disturbance.

Agence France-Presse and several European, Middle East and northeast African radio and television stations had their services blocked by the interference. All transferred their satellite transmissions to another frequency to resume operations. AFP said its operations were virtually back to normal late Wednesday.

Just connected the Comag receiver again and I can get the channels on the transponder without a problem. Getting quality of 79%. I scanned the transponder again on the Comag and it listed all the channels.
I connected up the Technomate again and added the transponder manually with the VID,PCR AND AUD PIDs that I got from the Comag but still no luck.

I think I experienced the same spooky problem with two Hotbird transponders, yesterday

Yes, interesting story. Very unusual

As for the Technomate problem, you haven't hit the 4000/500 channel limit have you? :? Just a thought.

Try saving your firmware/channels off to the PC as a backup (I think that there is a utility for your box) and then performing a factory reset before rescanning all satellites.

If that doesn't work, it may then be worth checking for a firmware update. Sometimes broadcasters subtly change the way the channels/transponders are set up, so you never know. I don't really have any other suggestions in all honesty.

External interference has been known to cause this kind of problem, with one transponder, I have heard of a type of cordless telephone that interferes with set top boxes, have you any other equipment that could be causing problems?

Not sure if that could help but I had a similar experience yesterday whilst trying to scan for RU.TV on my Conrad. The channel is on Hotbird, TP:11013 H.
Search for FTA produced nothing, but then when I searched for encrypted channels only, it found RU.TV and displayed its status as unencrypted.
Then I deleted RU.TV again (just to be sure that it wasn't an occasional system glitch), restarted receiver and the situation was exactly the same - channel not found on FTA, works as Encrypted.
How odd...

The missing frequency is too low for DECT, but it could be something else. Unlikely to be interference I would have thought, because the other receiver is fine.

Is there anything you can think of nearby that might cause strong interference? Radio mast, or anything?

If you want to know more about DECT phones and satellite IF interference, you can get an explanation of that particular phenomenon here:
