Default Re: Astra 28E Problem

Put the ss2 in the wifes pc and powered it up and nothing just a flash from the psu and a puff of smoke Got a new psu and tried it again and bingo the pc fired into life found the skystar 2 but it is still exactly the same as in my pc. Tried all the drivers I could find and the ones that actually worked gave me the same results. Signal a lot weaker than the technomate with most channels missing and giving different results each scan. Tried with different co-ax and different lnbs direct to the lnb or through the technomate loopthrough and always the same result. Think it might be on its way out

Sounds like you've given it a good run Jonty. Time for a new one maybe.

Will give it one last try over the weekend (especially that one AS) if it doesn't work then I am gonna consign it to my bit box. Don't think I will bother replacing it though as I have the technomate plus the mrs will kill me

Might be a dry joint, or a failing component on the card.

Do you mean a dry joint in the cabling stick? I would have thought if it was that I would have the same problem with the technomate. Had a play about yesterday with the ss2 and it managed to find all the taquilla channels but not a lot else. Got up this morning and all the other channels are back on and the taquilla channels have disappeared. Going to check the cabling again later today and maybe as a last resort will borrow my mates ss2 from work and try that one. Forgot he had one even though I got it for him off ebay at the same time as mine. Just had another thought. In the settings for my dvb programs should I using the diseq settings? The ss2 is being fed from the loopthrough in the technomate so I can only see the channels that the tm is set on so the diseqc is actually being controlled by the TM (think I have that right)

This is driving me nuts now. I have decided the problem is not the SS2. Just done a scan of hotbird using altdvb and got the results below. I went into the settings and turned diseqc off then scanned.

On the Lower frequencies it seems to be only picking up the Verticals and on the higher frequencies it only seems to be picking up the Horizontals. At one stage or another I have managed to pick all the frequencies up as they are in the list and have been scanned ok. Probably at one stage the levels have been the other way round ie horizontals ok on low frequencies.

Do you think it may be a problem with the lnb starting to fail or dodgy wiring :?
