If you change the default transponder in the digibox (Services, 4, 0, 1, Select - with no pauses) to a strong transponder on Astra1 19.2E, then you can use the signal strength and quality bars on the digibox itself (using the 'Signal Test' function.)

Don't forget to change it back though!

Finally had chance to try this out today with no joy.

I created the following goole earth paths to try and set me in the right direction.

marked up the current disk allinment with a marker so i could move it back if needed. Then slowly tried to move the dish to where i believe it should be. Once there i tried moving left, right and tried changing the dish height (cant remember the technical term) but no joy.

Setup my sky box default transponder to the one in the above post for 19.2E and also tried some of the others from http://www.geocities.com/digitalsatuk/astra1_19e.html such as 12422 H 27500 3/4 but i still could not get a signal on the signal test.

On the signal test there are two bars, signal and quality. As soon as i started to move from the original dish location the quality dropped off but the signal went up and down. Other than in the original location i did not see the quality move up from 0 at all. Once moved back the quality went back up.

I',m lost to where i need to go now..... Maybe a signal tester??

On the attached image the Blue line shows original and yellow shows new position.

thanks

Blimey thats an old version of my digitalsat website you are looking at - it hasnt been updated for over 2 years!

Try www .digitalsat.co.uk for more up to date lists and more satellites Ive picked up in the intervening years.

Based on your picture and explanation, I don't think you can be far off of finding 19.2E. It will be marginally higher in the sky than 28.2E, but only a little (guessing now, but a degree or two?)

The digibox is a pain in the arse TBH. They're just not designed for this sort of thing. You might be better off using a cheap signal meter (around a tenner off eBay) to get the job done.

Hi , I am a newby to Satellite TV and am having the same problem. I have purchased a free to air satellite package from B&Q for £70. When I set the system up it worked OK on the Astra 2 Satellite at 28.2 east. My main aim when purchasing the system was to receive German TV from Astra 1e.1f etc. I have repositioned the dish but I cannot pick up anything from 19.2 east. The dish supplied with the system is a 60cm dish but has the Sky shape and not the vertical ovalshape of my old analogue system dish, the analogue receiver has not worked for a couple of years and was set up for me when new. I thought of using the old dish with the new transponder but the fittings are different. The Satellite receiver is a Skyline DSR 4000. with a universal Lnb. This receiver may be made my a different manufacturer and re badged I suspect. I would be most grateful for any help.
