Default After flashing, what next?

I've been the proud owner of a 7025 for ten days now. I'm a complete newbie, but after have tried the box out with its preloaded firmware I've now successfully flashed it with Gemini 2.1.0 via null modem cable (it was easy) and established a network connection with my PC via crossover cable (took a while to sort that out, but got there in the end). I am able to access the files on the Dreambox using Dreambox Control Center 2.82. Beyond that I haven't done very much (and I haven't yet progressed beyond reception on 28.2E anyway).

I want to do the following:

(a) enable reception of Channel 4 and Five (I have a legit FreeSat card)
(b) download/enable a proper EPG service

I've downloaded various cams (Newcamd, Evocamd, NewCS, etc.) but I've completely failed to properly install them - at least, I haven't yet managed to get Channel 4 or Five. The thing is, I don't really know what I'm doing, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

As for the EPG, I have an evaluation copy of EPGCenter, and although it establishes a connection with the Dreambox, nothing gets uploaded to it (and I haven't managed to get EPG data for most of the UK channels anyway). Again, any help would be much appreciated.

Its annoying isn't it

I'm having the same problem on my 7020 with my DigitAlb card. Cards in slot, on correct channel, box displays "Scrambled channel" >

Did you try installing the emus by using the download function and the blue button to install the addons?

I dont have a 7025 but I imagine the procedures are the same as the 7000 and 7020.

If you installed the emus by ftp then the files will not be executable. You will need to change the bin files to executable by changing their attributes. i.e. CHMOD 755. Also you may not have configured the config files.

Most gemini images will auto install some cams for you via the blue button - add ons. (You will need a working internet connection set up on the DB).

If not then find the tarball for the appropriate cam you are interested in, ftp it over to the /tmp folder and manually install it via the blue button.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Yes, I did try installing the files via FTP (as I couldn't get anywhere via the blue panel - but I'll revisit that), but they (obviously) weren't executable. How do I go about changing attributes and configuring the configs?

Ftp to the dreambox and then navigate to var/bin or usr/bin. If you are using FlashFXP then highlight all the files in the var/bin folder and right click. Select the option 'attributes' and change the number to 755 and exit.

Once you have newcamd installed, insert your FTV card. Nothing else required

Nano, try camd3 or GBOX.

Thanks for that, BGonaSTICK. I still haven't managed to get Newcamd successfully installed, but I shall persevere (and no doubt I'll be back here again asking for help if I don't get it sorted).

The one thing you must remember when you're having these seemingly insurmountable problems, is that you're only dealing with a stupid computer, and you WILL win through in the end. There is simply no other possible outcome.

It can just take a while sometimes
