Recording in altdvb

I have been trying to record stuff to my hard disk and been successful so far this morning but the recorded files are .ts files. Is there a way to record to avi or mpg without re encoding and faffing about? I want to record stuff to put on dvd to watch on either the xbox (avi) or on a normal dvd player. I really like this altdvb as it seems to be doing everything I want at the moment. Beats using the old alba video recorder any day

Another quickie question. When viewing picture in picture how do you go about watching 2 encrypted channels?

Altdvb only appears to record .ts but you can convert the file to .avi or other formats easily and quickly before burning to dvd, using one of the video conversion programmes.

You can use WinAvi Video converter shareware file. Next time I see you on msn I will send a copy of the file if you dont already have it.

Cheers Jim have that hidden away somewhere from when I used to convert avi to dvd but didn't realise it did .ts aswell. Will give that a go.

Cool. I've been looking for a better fix for the .TS conversion process. I've been using PVAStrumento and Mpeg2Schnitt, but frankly it's a pain in the arse.

I'll grab myself a copy and give it a go

found a good program for recording from the technomate. IntervideoDVR3 records and saves as mpeg probably easier than messing with the SS2 and altdvb

How does that work Jonty? Via RF? Do you have a video capture card?

yes m8 I have a Medion/Phillips tv/capture card in the wifes PC and connect the TM through that. Not long after I installed it the pc went pear shaped so I am now on linux. The program is available for a trial download at Intervideo.com
