Default Sat Novice - Cams, etc

Hello all!

I'm a bit confused to the world of cams and cards.
I've got a Morgan Viaccess Receiver: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...=97598&doy=4m2 and a 60cm dish.
What cam and card would I need to view the likes of Canal+ Holland?
I only want to use it for the premiership football, if Canal NL is not an option, what is?

Hi matteus, welcome to the forum.

A cam is a conditional access module, into which you insert a card to be read. There are several different cams such as the Dragon Cam and some of the older ones like the Matrix and Magic cams. Cams can be programmed to decrypt channels without the use of a card. However the decryption systems these days are such that only a few providers encryptions can be opened.

Cards can be either programmable cards which when used in a cam or directly into a receiver will open currently 'hacked' encryptions ( not many around these days ) or official provider cards such as sky, or Art or Digitalb or several others.

An ART card is the best way to buy Premiership football until the end of this season, but I'd wait until then to determine the best value for next season.

ART on Hotbird use Viaccess, and so these cards should work in the card slot of your Viaccess receiver without the need for a CAM.
