Hi Guys,
According to the details on BYUTV.org - The feed is available via satellite to us here in th UK. Here are the details: Telstar 12, transponder K14 Feed Type: Ku-Band Downlink Frequency: 11566 MHz Downlink Polarization: Horizontal Data Rate: 5.184 Mb/s Symbol Rate: 5.6252 MS/s (Depending on your receiver, this may be entered as 5625) FEC: 1/2 Can this be accessed via SKY DISH? If not - whats the cheapest way! LCK |

No chance whatsoever on a Sky dish.
The channel is carried on a satellite hovering out over the Atlantic, and needs at least an 80cm dish - although note Ive been looking for 15W for a long time on my assortment of 80 cm dishes, and Ive never got anything off it here.

hey thanks buddy,
I popped into my local MAPLINS today and on offer was one of those "SATELLITES IN A SUITCASE" - the sales guy basically claimed that it was as easy as 1) Plug the decoder into your tv via SCART 2) Connect cable to the decoder 3) Connect the other end into the LNB on the dish 4) Switch it all on 5) Move dish intil you get your picture? It all sounds too EASY to me - surely you must know where to point the dish? Advice Please Friend! - He also claimed that it would access that USA Sat I am wanting to access! |

Hi Analoguesat
Trying for 15west? I find that 12608H, 19279, 2/3 is a very strong transponder on that bird. Same S&Q as 28/19/13 east at this location. As for BYU, I will not comment for fear of being banned .BH

![]() Thanks for that suggestion BH - I'll have a look next time we have a dry weekend - theres snow forecast for here this weekend and even Im not daft enough to set the temporary kit up in the garden in a snowstorm (although I was spotted sitting in the garden watvhing the tv in a thick coat and woolly hat 2 weeks back - having great fun watching 36E and 40E!)

Yes, it's fairly easy, but maybe not quite that easy. The suitcase jobbies are very tidy, and great for camping and caravanning - as long as you don't plan on straying outside of your intended satellite's footprint. Anything more adventurous is going to need a 'proper' dish for sure. Aligning dishes becomes worryingly simple when you've done it a hundred times especially if you have a few basic tools to hand, and cheat by using a few tricks of the trade...
