yer welcome m8. Been fiddling a bit more and gone to Kubuntu Edgy Eft instead and now I have no sound at all lol
that'll teach me to mess with things I don't understand.

Jonty, is there a graphic user interface for wine or does it have to be used from a terminal window.

I have just dabbled with it in Ubuntu and without a file selection window it is a pain.

found a bit of a glitch in my original statement. It works in Ubuntu (gnome version) but is apparently a bit of a sod in Kubuntu (KDE version). Jim all I do is double click on the file and it automatically starts wine using the gnome. I try not to use the terminal if I can avoid it I will. After talking to you on msn the other night I now prefer Gnome as it works better with my soundcard. Kde was picking up the soundchip on my medion tv card and trying to use that as the main sound controller instead of my ensoniq soundblaster.

Can someone edit my original post and put in about it not working on Kubuntu as I have just tried and it is saying too much time has passed for me to edit it. I take it thats because I am not moderator of the section.

I think Jonty meant it's not working with Kubuntu, so I've edited the first post of this thread to reflect that.

If that's not right let me know Jonty.

And yes, that's why you can't edit your post in this section.

Yep thats what I meant Stick. I have now gone back to Breezy Badger as it is the only one that will work with my set up at the moment but it does what I want so I am happy

just in the middle of upgrading back to dapper now m8 but I have a feeling that is where I went wrong this afternoon. The Kubuntu version of dapper seemed to be ok but the mrs didn't like it she prefers the one installed. You know me m8 I can't help but interfere it gives me something to do. I have done that many linux installs over the last 3 or 4 days I am lost.
