Welcome to the forum ianfarnish, you are finding things out the hard way.

I dont have that receiver so cant be specific although there will probably be a man along shortly who can help.

Have you unplugged the receiver from the mains for a short while and then reconnected to allow it to reboot? That may sort it.

Hi Ian. Gentle is the only way we know how

Yeah, first step is to leave unplugged overnight. Next is to try a factory reset. Can you navigate the receiver's menus from the box itself?

Do any buttons on the remote work? Sometimes there are more than one type of remote for each box (often market specific). You may be able to alter this is the setup menu's too.

Does the receiver still have English as the default language?

If all else fails, try the flash again.

Don't panic just yet. Patience is the name of the game. Never ever interrupt the flashing process itself though, or your box will definitely be as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Let us know how you get on!

Just another thought from a similar problem that I had a while back. Does it have a tv control button on the remote and has that been pressed? If it has that will stop the remote from controlling the receiver.

I would just take it back and get a new one mate Its pointless winding yourself up if you can just change it for another one that works fine. :?

Although they might ask for the dish back as well which may be a problem They haven't got the inteligence to take the one out of the new box.

Just tell them it doesn't work and there shouldn't be any problems.

Yes, I agree. It's not like you were trying to do something you shouldn't be. You don't even have to tell them you flashed it.

It might be worth trying the flash once more. That will quite often resolve this sort of problem.

Flash it, and then return it if it's a duffer.

Let us know how you get on. It will be interesting to hear how you find your local B&Q customer services.
