This is the first time I've attempted this.
I've installed my dish and I'm trying to receive a signal from 19.2E. According to my receiver its got 74% signal strength on 19.2E and the same for several other satellites including Eutelsaw W2 and Hotbird. But I'm not receiving any feeds for either of them despite the signal strength. My receiver does a search and comes back as failed. I'm using a 60cm dish with a Morgan Viaccess DVB Receiver. I set up the installation using the satellite finder kit from Maplins. I aligned the dish in the right direction and the signal finder gave me the high pitched whistle and read 10. So I'm assuming that I've got it spot on. |

Welcome to the forum matteus.
Is your dish motorised or are you moving it by hand, or broomstick as some do on here? If the dish is motorised, the guidance will be a bit different, hence the question. Have you set the receiver to a fta frequence such as 12285 vertical 27500 (BBC World) when searching for a signal? Just because you have a signal of 74% does not mean that you are correctly pointing at 19.2East. The elevation may be wrong or you may not be on the satellite at all.

Thanks for the welcome!
I'm moving the dish by hand (Broomstick?? Really? lol). No I hadn't set the receiver to any channels I've just been using the signal strength indicator on the receiver. I will tune in to BBC World as its preset on the receiver and try aligning the dish that way. Just out of interest what should the elevation be for 19.2E? I'm in Teesside and have the dish installed in my garden. |
