Converting .avi and .ts files to mpeg for the Dreambox.

I came across this description posted by my good friend Sateo elsewhere. I have not tried it but others have and have confirmed that it works well.

As a lot of friends want to view on the Dreambox .avi files and looking how to convert them on .ts (And me) and they have try and with .mpeg!!
I found a way to make very good quality .mpeg files for the Dreambox and to include subtitles!!!
This is what i do!!!!
First:what you need!!!

Vobsub
XVid codec
WinAVI Video Converter

The two first are free and easily found. The third is shareware

ok lets go now!!!
First put on a folder the avi and the srt and must have the same name:
example: movie1.avi movie1.srt

Config Vobsub:
go :start-all programs-vobsub-directvobsub configure

and:
on Misc uncheck the pre-buffer subpicture and press apply!!!
the auto-reload subtitles MUST BE CHECK IT!!!!
on the Μain chose the fonts and the size you want!!!
on the General choose Always Load and press Apply/OK
Now

run WinAvi
press menu and go to convert>any DVD/VCD/SVCD/MPEG
and then go to the folder you have the avi and the srt
click the movie1.avi and press open !!
Choose the output directory!!!
and choose mpeg1 and press ADVANCE !!!
and there :
on Mpeg
check on output settings ONLY the Constant video quality and set it on higher
and on Target format Pal
and uncheck the keep the original size on the picture size and put the widht 720 and height 576!!
Audio bitrate 192000
Audi sample rate 44100 and press OK
and OK and wait to convert it!!!!!!!!!
Thats ALL m8s!!!!!!

I suppose that will cost me a few Ouzos.
