Default End of the road for another shopping channel

Article from www.shoppingtelly.com

It would appear that Buster's gone bust.

Sky Channel 681 going to black yesterday appears to signal the end of the line for Pricebusters TV and Buster the Monkey.

The channel, fronted by entrepreneur Mark Klein claimed that it would be 'changing the face of shopping television and bringing something new' in July last year. Mr Klein appears of late to have gone to ground.

It is a double blow to the staff and presenters of the channel, a number of which were recruited following the disasterous collapse of the Simply TV/Oldrids joint venture "Downtown Superstore TV" last year. It is reported that staff, including presenters have been left high and dry for several weeks now. A number of sources have told us that many staff have not been paid since the channel ceased broadcasting on sky 638. Since then, it has been running pre-recorded 'Deal of the Day' items on sky channel 681 which, it would appear from correspondents - have not been arriving. We are also told that some employees are already considering legal action against the company.

The channel has been criticised from within and out of the industry from day one for it's poor broadcast quality, plagiarism of other channels' techniques and the hiring of actors to present products. The channel has also been slammed by the Advertising Standards Authority several times due to the apparent lack of compliance knowledge in the company. Our sources also revealed that as recently as today that Mark Klein, Pricebusters Chairman has reportedly been desperately attempting to contact other shopping channels - we can only but imagine why!

Meanwhile, the accountants for Pricebusters are reported to be unaware of where Mr Klein is. Customers who have contacted them have told us that they are being bombarded with enquiries by many of the channel's suppliers and customers who have not received goods or payments. It is also thought that a number of the staff have or were considering legal action against the company.

The accountants' advice to customers who have ordered, but not received goods from the company is to contact their credit card company or bank immediately to make them aware of the situation. Calls to the Pricebusters call centre number and customer services numbers are currently going unanswered. If anyone else has any news, please do contact us here at shoppingtelly.com in confidence.

Four jerseys for a quid?!?!

Congrats on your 200 posts and new forum status anyway

You don't get 'Long Term Inmate' status for a quid. It normally costs at least a fiver!

Thanks stick,

If I had a spare fiver with all the latest goings on, you guys would get it.

Thanks for all the info, and helping me to understand what's available if you ask.

I've had loads of fun in the last few months, and learned a lot along the way.
Regards,
s

iBuy 1 & 2 are the next ones likely to disappear - according to the shoppingtelly.com site the iBuy staff were given 6 weeks notice of the channels closing at the end of January.
