Default wall mounting a wave torodial t55

lo all,

I've just bought a wave torodial t55 from here: http://www.hm-sat-shop.de/antennen-w...odial-t55.html

And have some LNBs, cable etc coming from here http://www.srt-versand.de/

but anyway, my problem is I don't know how I am going to mount the dish... how do I go about it?

Thanks,
Steve

*hopes he doesn't get hit by taxes too hard or similar when his items arrive

LOL, well the good news is that you shouldn't have any surprise cross-border taxes to pay - because Germany is part of the EU. The German taxes should have been added at the point you paid.

As for mounting, do you have a picture of the rear of the dish? Is it not just a standard 2" pole mount?

If it is, then for strength, I would go for T&K brackets. Choose a length to ensure there's enough stand-off to accommodate the dish without fouling the wall obviously.

Great, it looks like I might need an adapter or something - the pipe is 40mm.

Another DE sat shop says this: The attachment of the T55 has a diameter of 40mm. Since this pipe is not commercial, this adapter is needed. "Adapter pipe of 43-50mm on 40mm for the attachment of the T55 (WaveFrontier T55)"

http://www.satshop24.de/satshop24/bi.../adapter40.gif

Or perhaps there is some lenience in attaching to the brackets... from what I've read here: http://www.blake-uk.com/prod_product...lbrackets.aspx I will need to use some V/U bolts. I'm guessing V bolts wouldn't need such an accurate diameter.

If it was the other way round (i.e. your mast was smaller than it should be) then I would say that V bolts may be an option, but if the dish can only accommodate a 40mm pole, then you may have to either find a 40mm mast, or buy an adapter.

You may find though, that you can file out the mounting holes in the dish mount to accept 50mm V bolts.

I opened up the holes on my minidish (designed for an inch and a quarter pole) to fit a 50mm pole/U bolt with a round file, no problem.

Do you actually have the dish yet? If so, post a few pics. If not, I'd wait till you do before splashing out on an adapter.

It should arrive Monday/Tuesday. I am still waiting on LNBs etc too so there is no hurry.

How I read it I thought it said that it was smaller - probably best I just wait and see! Thanks though, a voice of experience is very useful when presented with these challenges.

lo all, the dish has arrived and I've spent the last two hours painstakingly putting it together. All done now and I had a lovely surprise, too.

It appears that the dish has a frame that can be used as a wall mount.

I have my dad worried about the wall falling down from the windage now though

It came with rawl bolts - are these ok or should I be looking to get something else?

Thanks,
Steve

Yeah, Rawl bolts or sleeve anchors are OK into good solid brickwork (drill into the brick, not the mortar) or you can use a self tapping bolt like the Thunderbolt. Other materials (than traditional brick) may require specialist fixings.

Expanding bolts in particular may cause cracking if you mount into bricks at the extremities of a wall, so pick your spot carefully.

Also, do not mount into brickwork high up on a gable end.

I would reassure your dad that there's not going to be a terrific amount of wind loading on the T55 - it's relatively small.
