Default Hello

Living in the cold north with very long and dark winters, TV is what you need.
I've been watching sat TV a long time but only lately bought a more advanced receiver.
I am the proud owner of a Dreambox 7025 ST and also own a Humax 5350. Both with a Stab HH motor and a 1 meter dish.
I am new on the Dreambox thing but am an old Unix freak.

All the best

A very big :welc2: Kosmopoliten

Are you using the satellite and terrestrial tuners? I don't know what terrestrial is like in your cold abode but it sounds like you have a bit to play with. The Dreambox is quite easy to use and adapt and unless you are writing code all the work is done by scripts.

Enjoy your visit to the forum and please keep in touch. We look forward to hearing of your progress.

Yes I use the terrestrial tuner in the dreambox because they killed the analog TV transmissions. Need to see the public service channels in Sweden and since they are NDS (Viasat) and Conax (Canal Digital)coded on the satelite but free on the terrestrial system I bought a module for the 7025.

Thanks for the welcome and the best regards

Hey, welcome kosmopoliten

Good to have another Dreamboxer on board. We've a few 7025 owners now, so you might pick up some good info here.

How long have you had it, and what have you managed to do with it? What images are you running and how do you find it compared to your Hummy?

Feel free to discuss anything related to the Dreambox at Satellite Help. The only stuff we don't allow here are keys, emus, firmware and the like.

Your UNIX experience would be very valuable to our members whether you're a 'freak' or not

Hello again

To answer the question about comparing the Humax to the Dreambox is impossible. The Humax 5350 is a very stable machine but the operating system is locked. The thing is specially build for the Scandinavian and some Southern European countries. It takes some very advanced physical electronic operations to open the thing and than you end up with a Humax 5300 (nothing to have).

The 7025 is another story. I've had it for about 2 weeks and starting loving it allready..

It's loaded with the Gemini project 2.10. (seems more stable than the 2.20) and I have it running with a original Dutch (I'm Dutch originally but lived is Sweden for the past 35 years) SECA 2 card in the upper card reader running Canaal Digitaal, the lower reader I can use to put in the family's terrestrial Viacess 2 card when nobody else is watching the family's TV, operating on Evocamd and in the CA-slot I have a T-Rex 4.1 loaded with Predator 3.54 programmed with the NDS boxID from my Humax and a original Viasat card and offcourse Evocamd keys for the German Premiere channels and a 250 Gb HD to record.

The long winter nights are getting shorter.

But I'm still in the discovering new things stage with the DreamMachine.

All the best

Kosmopoliten

Ahh, very good. In two weeks you've done very well!

Just how long are the nights in Sweden at this time of year?
