Hi dezzy, I can't remember your network setup but the host address is the address number of the system you are trying to connect to.
I.e, of you are trying to connect from your pc to your dreambox then the address would be ftp://192.168.0.20 or whatever your dreambox IP is. If you are trying to connect to a remote server then the Ip would be the wan IP of the remote network. If the remote server has a dyndns address called joeblogs.dyndns.org then you could just enter ftp://joeblogs.dyndns.org and that would direct your connection to the correct IP.

Many thanks Jimdefruit,
I have entered this information. The CuteFTP software is asking me to enter a username and password for this site does this mean the Dreambox or is it talking about my internet provider. Sorry if I'm being a little slow here but after the previous mistakes I've made with the Dreambox I'm taking it a little slower. Just to give you an update of were I'm at the PC,Modem , Switch and Dreambox are all connected and working fine. I have this morning used the Blue-Panel -Plugins-Dreambox Links Web Browser this took me automatically to www.dream-multimedia-tv.de downloads page. I downloaded the firmwear for the DM 7020 which it did successfully (Have to admit at this point was very pleased). I attempted to download DreamUP V1.2.2.0. However it would not allow me to, I got the message "unknown type content type is application/zip". Is this what the CuteFTP softwear is used for to convert the zip and other files so the Dreambox can read them? Thanks Dezzy |

If you've entered the Dreambox IP, then the matching userid is 'root' and the password is 'dreambox'.
If you're trying to connect to an FTP host out on the Internet, then you will need to obtain a userid and password from the host owner. The FTP tool you have (CuteFTP) is just a control panel to allow you to manage/move/update/delete etc. files on FTP servers (and your Dreambox is acting as an FTP server, as well as being a satellite receiver). The Dreamup thing won't install on your Dreambox, as it's supposed to be installed on your PC. You can transfer it from your Dreambox plugins folder (if you can find it) to your PC using CuteFTP, or just re-download it to your PC directly from the web (easier). I wouldn't bother. There are far better and more modern tools to do the things that Dreamup does. I also wouldn't load any firmware using the method you've tried. We'll talk you through how to do that with Flashwizard Pro 6.3 when you're ready. It takes care of all the FTP stuff for you ![]() The main thing you'll use FTP for is periodically transferring new key files from your PC (where you've downloaded them from the Internet from one of the big sites like satandream.com) to your Dreambox. I know it all sounds like a load of mumbo-jumbo, but just take your time, keep reading, and keep asking ![]()

Hello
Do a search on Google for a program called Dreambox Control Center version 2.92 (DCC) It will take care of all of your problems . It has a build in IP number finder, FTP, Telnet and more. Works perfect in my network. And while your att it, search for DreamboxEdit also. This will take care of your channellists. Kosmopoliten

Yes, you need to understand the format of the key files, but you just FTP them to your PC, edit with Ultraedit (or Wordpad if you must, but not Notepad) and FTP them back. You will need to restart the emu usually, for the change to take effect.
